Sajid Rashid BEM is a multi-award winning philanthropist; the ‘Youngest’ Muslim ever to receive a British Empire Medal (BEM) from Her Majesty the Queen on the New Year’s Honours List 2016 for services to the community as well as charitable fundraising. He also received a British Citizens Award Medal (BCA) from the Westminster Palace for improving British Society.
Born on 2nd November 1989; Sajid is regarded as one of Britain’s most inspirational figures scooping the accolade of ‘Positive Role Model Award for Age’ at the UK’s Largest Diversity Awards along with many other national accolades including JCI UK’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP).
Professionally, Sajid is a highly motivated time served aero-engineer with an extensive background in Aerospace. Starting his career at the age of 16, Sajid joined Rolls-Royce plc with a mechanical engineering apprenticeship and has been working there ever since. He now represents Rolls-Royce plc as a STEM Ambassador to promote and inspire the next generation of young people, engaging and enthusing them to develop an insight into STEM subjects which are Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. In addition to becoming an aero-engineer, Sajid also pursued and fulfilled his dream of becoming a pilot a few years ago.
Sajid began his community work at the age of 14, starting off as a volunteer for Staffordshire Youth Service and worked his way up to becoming a Millennium Volunteer where he was on the board of committee and provided funding for youth centres in the region of Staffordshire.

His journey then took him to Uxbridge community centre in Burton as an elected chairman at the age of 20 where he re-generated and ‘turned the centre around’ by improving the venue for all in the community. He has made a phenomenal and pro-found impact locally, nationally and internationally by transforming and uniting communities with his strong drive, focus and determination along with his commitment to deliver excellence; demonstrating what can be achieved with hard work and ambition to strive further.
Within the last few years Sajid has literally thrown himself into fund-raising challenges as part of a bid to back charities close to his heart. He has raised a substantial amount of money in excess of £70,000 as well as supported other different charities, communities and causes. He is committed to improving lives of different communities nationally and internationally and this has been achieved through voluntary work and fundraising to strengthen humanity’s fight against poverty, social injustice and natural disaster.
From zip-lining and skydiving at high velocity reaching up to speeds of 120mph, Sajid has conquered his fear of heights in the process. Additionally, Sajid has been active in the streets of his community, raising funds for charity which he is strongly enthusiastic about thus resulting in playing his role for humanity and leading by example as a diverse role model for the younger generation.
